Valve Assembly Overview

Materials and Specifications

Most mainstream suction and discharge valve sheets adopt high-strength spring steel with strict thickness specifications ranging from 0.15 mm to 0.30 mm, featuring outstanding fatigue resistance to withstand frequent opening-closing impacts during long-term cyclic compression. Valve seats are generally cast from nodular cast iron or aluminum alloy, processed within precise tolerance standards to ensure tight sealing after valve closure and avoid gas backflow inside cylinder chambers. The applicable working temperature range of the whole valve set covers -35℃ to 120℃, matching ammonia, R22 and R404A refrigerants widely used in cold storage projects.

Operational Principle

Structurally split into suction valve group installed at cylinder bottom and discharge valve group fixed on cylinder head, the two sets cooperate to finish the whole compression cycle. When the refrigeration compressor piston moves downwards, low-pressure refrigerant vapor pushes open suction valves and flows into the cylinder; as the piston travels upward to compress gas, internal pressure lifts discharge valves to deliver high-pressure vapor toward condenser. Any deformation or abrasion on valve plates will cause internal gas leakage, resulting in decreased actual exhaust volume and rising power consumption of the unit.

Maintenance Considerations

For end users running cold storage facilities, matching valve assembly specifications according to compressor displacement parameters is the key of later maintenance and part replacement. Replacing with non-standard size valve sheets will break the original pressure balance of the refrigeration system and shorten the service cycle of refrigeration compressor.
